The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Able to meet and perform physical requirements and to work effectively in an environment which is typical of this position.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Job Tasks\/Duties<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Maintains all grounds and course maintenance equipment according to the club\u2019s turf management program.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Schedules, trains, supervises and evaluates all personnel assigned to department.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Maintains accurate work records for all personnel in the department.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Supervises all planting, fertilizing, care for and removal of turf, plants, shrubs, trees and other facilities on the golf course.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Maintains course in proper playing condition.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Inspect the course regularly to evaluate and recommend improvements.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Manages all construction, maintenance and renovations on the golf course.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Administers a Toro Lynx irrigation system.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Oversees repairs of broken water lines or valves and may perform necessary repairs in an emergency.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Records all maintenance on course.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Supervises operation of the Equipment Repair Shop and a fleet of Toro maintenance equipment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Prepare the annual budget for department; take corrective action as necessary to help assure that budget goals are met.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Establishes short- and long-range plans for the golf course.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Selects and prepares proper fertilizers and nutrients for proper fertility programs.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Develops and maintains drainage, irrigation and watering systems.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Implements and enforces comprehensive safety program for employees, members, and guests on course in compliance with local, state and federal laws; implements and manages the club\u2019s hazard communication (HAZCOM) program.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ensures that chemicals, petroleum and other controlled products are used, stored and disposed of in accordance with local, state and federal regulations and maintains required records.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Communicates as necessary with the Director of Golf and Green\u2019s Chairman to discuss conditions of course, maintenance plans, scheduled events.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Communicate as necessary with Greens Committee or other applicable committees.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Attend staff and management meetings.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Keeps members informed about current and future maintenance activities.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Plans professional development and training activities for subordinates including safety training for equipment use and proper handling of fertilizers, herbicides, and all other chemicals used on course; assures that MSDSs are available in convenient location.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Makes recommendations for capital improvement and purchases.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ensure proper landscaping for property outside of golf course including the clubhouse and surrounding areas.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Coordinates applicable work with outside contractors.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Determines when course should be closed due to weather conditions that may damage the course if play continues.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Salary and Compensation Package<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Salary range: $150,000 to $180,000<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The salary range is commensurate with qualifications and experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This package also includes a performance bonus and generous benefits which include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Medical and dental for family<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>401K<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Golf privileges<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Food allowance<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cell phone allowance<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Clothing allowance<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>GCSAA and Central California GCSA Memberships<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>GIS Conference and Continuing Education fully covered<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Vehicle for personal and work use<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Summary<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At Fort Washington the ideal Superintendent will be \u201chands on \u201cand will work closely with his crew demonstrating strong leadership skills. This<br>leadership role ensures exceptional playing conditions, turf health,<br>environmental stewardship, and cost-effective operations while<br>leading a team of maintenance professionals. The Superintendent<br>serves as the primary expert on turfgrass management, irrigation,<br>equipment, and regulatory compliance, delivering a premier golf<br>experience for members, guests, and players.<br>Essential Duties and Responsibilities<br>Plan, organize, and direct all daily, weekly, and seasonal turf<br>maintenance activities, including mowing, irrigation, fertilization,<br>pest\/weed\/disease control, aeration, topdressing, bunker<br>maintenance, tee\/green\/fairway\/rough care, and tree\/shrub\/landscape<br>management.<br>Develop and implement comprehensive agronomic programs to<br>maintain optimal turf health, playing quality, and aesthetic appeal<br>while minimizing resource use (water, chemicals, labor).<br>Manage the golf course irrigation system, including scheduling,<br>repairs, upgrades, and water conservation practices.
