Butte Creek Country Club is seeking an Equipment Manager.  The Equipment Manager is responsible for all facets of equipment operation, repair, and maintenance of golf course equipment to provide the best possible playing conditions.  This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual.

Responsibilities

  • Implement a preventative maintenance program with accurate record keeping
  • Trains and instructs the staff in maintenance and diagnosis of all equipment
  • Upkeep of reels and bedknives which includes grinding, facing bedknives, and daily adjustment
  • Orders and stocks necessary parts for the daily upkeep of all equipment within the constraints of the operational budget
  • Tracks all expenses associated with equipment fleet upkeep
  • Completes repairs and preventative maintenance in a timely fashion
  • Responsible for the organization and cleanliness of the maintenance facility
  • Assists in development of the annual Equipment Repairs Budget
  • Works together with Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent in communicating with the crew regarding needed repairs and problems
  • Maintains a safe, organized, and clean working environment

Job Requirements

  • Five Years of golf course equipment repair and management experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of all turf and landscape equipment functions, systems and safety, cutting unit set-up, grinding, height adjustments, rollers, hydraulic theory and diagnosis, electrical theory and diagnosis, combustion engines, welding, etc.
  • Must be able to maintain a good working relationships with other employees and to work with or without supervision
  • Basic understanding of the game of golf and the effects this position has on the overall condition and playability of the golf course
  • Possess a valid driver’s license

The Equipment Manager is an integral part of the Maintenance Operation and functions as a key player on our team. Additional duties may be assigned as required.

 Key Responsibilities

  • Train team members on the safe and proper operation of the equipment.
  • Coach the Mechanics performance and develop him/her to become an Equipment Manager.
  • Perform performance reviews for the Mechanic.

  • Insure departmental compliance with OSHA regulations and the Equipment Manager will be the Safety Officer for the golf course department.
  • Implement a thorough Preventative Maintenance program for all equipment.
  • Anticipate parts need and maintain inventory to maximize equipment operation reducing down time.
  • Attend educational seminars to stay current with leading technology and troubleshooting.
  • Create a shared vision among direct reports.

TPC Stonbrae   Equipment Manager Position

Summary
Under the supervision of the golf course superintendent or the assistant golf course superintendent, the equipment manager provides support for the golf course maintenance operation. The equipment manager is responsible for ensuring that all golf course maintenance equipment is in an efficient, operable and safe condition. Responsibilities will also include the documentation of all equipment maintenance and repair. This individual will assist in the development of operational training programs, as they apply to equipment operation and maintenance. In addition the equipment technician will participate in the maintenance of golf course turf and landscaped areas as needed. The Equipment Manager will be tasked with the responsibility to review all Standard Operating Procedures as they apply to equipment maintenance to ensure the greatest possible operational efficiency and organization. Additional responsibilities will include organization of the maintenance and repair area, development of a parts inventory and inventory control systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Maintain maintenance equipment and shop areas at optimum levels of performance and cleanliness
  • Document repair and maintenance activities
  • Maintain proper tolerances on cutting units for optimum quality and height of cut
  • Perform all periodic maintenance on equipment
  • Maintain inventories of shop chemicals and proper MSDS for all items.
  • Purchase required parts and accessories
  • Participate in the operation of field equipment for the purpose of mower operation and quality of cut evaluations
  • Attend department meetings as required
  • Display a professional appearance and attitude at all times
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position directly supervises the Equipment Technician.
Qualifications

Job Description:  Under supervision of the Golf Course Superintendent and/or the Assistant Golf Superintendent, will perform repair and preventative maintenance on the golf course equipment. The Mechanic will also place safety as a top priority and help to maintain a clean service area building.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  

  • Maintains, repairs and operates mowers, tractors and other specialized equipment.
  • Assists with special construction, maintenance and repair projects.
  • Grinds and sets reels according to golf course standards.
  • Instructs and/or trains maintenance workers regarding preventative maintenance, proper cleaning of and operation of equipment.
  • Reports, diagnoses and repairs equipment failures and safety hazards.
  • Places orders for parts and supplies needed by following the District procedures.
  • Checks equipment for performance.
  • Performs all required preventative maintenance on equipment.
  • Assists in establishing the equipment budget and controls expenses to ensure efficient operations.
  • Maintains documentation of all stored hazardous material used in the maintenance of equipment.

Woodbridge Golf & Country Club is seeking a Assistant Mechanic to work in the Golf Course Maintenance Department. Previous golf course work experience a plus but not necessary.  Requirements: are as follows.

Working knowledge of light and heavy maintenance equipment and automotive apparatuses.

Skill in the use of a variety of equipment repair tools, and the making of various types of mechanical repair. Supplies own tools.

Working knowledge of the theory, care, and operation of internal combustion engines and mowing equipment.

Working knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions of the profession.

Ability to move heavy objects and lift 50 lbs.

Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions while repairing equipment.

Ability to diagnose mechanical troubles and determine appropriate maintenance work.

Ability to communicate effectively and keep business records.

Knowledge of and/or ability to play the game of golf and understand how job performance affects the playing conditions of the golf course.

Possession of a valid driver’s license, possibly a commercial driver’s license (CDL).
